Working with children is a wonderful and challenging experience. Staff Members that work with children need to continuously work on clear communication skills that allow for their message and expectations to be clearly understood by children of various ages.

Our 3-hour training class teaches staff how to implement peer mediation (ages 12 – 18) or peace corner (ages 5 – 12) programs. Additionally, staff members are taught essential skills to effective communicate with children and engage them in the process of conflict resolution. Topics covered include:

• Conflict Styles in Youth
• Effective communication with Youth
• Use of expectations/rewards system
• Peer Mediation and Peace Corner programs
• Characteristics of at-risk youth
• Interactive activities to ensure participation
