Community

Community Problem Solving starts at grass roots - There are always problems to be solved, but first you need people who know how to utilize their resources and work together to collaborate. The Community Mediation Center is dedicated to raising awareness and access to training and mediation services for all community members through our community programs.

Non-Family Mediation

Mediation services are available to help people who disagree about a variety of issues at little or no cost. Using mediation helps ensure a win-win situation where everyone needs can get met by doing creative problem solving and planning. Click on the title for more information

Facilitated Dialogue

Facilitated Dialogue can be used in many situations. Whether an issue of community wide impact is under discussion or a small group meeting is taking place, having a facilitator makes a difference. The Center is able to provide facilitators for little or no cost, or train members of your group to act as the facilitator.

A Study Circle

A Study Circle is a group or groups of 8 to 12 participants who meet regularly over a period of weeks or months to address a critical public issue in a democratic and collaborative way. The discussion considers an issue from many points of view and progresses from individuals personal experiences of the issue to an examination of many issues with the end result the development of an action plan for social change. Learn more about study circles, which embody democratic principles of equality, inclusiveness, and collaboration by clicking the title!

Arbitration

Arbitration is an informal process in which two parties present their views of a dispute to a neutral third party, an arbitrator, who will weigh the evidence and decide how to resolve the dispute. The Community Mediation Center partners with the Better Business Bureau to provide mediation and arbitration services to businesses and consumers who are in dispute.  Once the BBB determines that a case will need to be arbitrated it is referred to the CMC where it is scheduled, heard by an arbitrator and a decision is rendered.
