Youth Peacemakers

Peer Mediation is a program that offers young people the opportunity to resolve their conflict in a peaceful and productive way. A peer mediation program can be established in any school, community club and organization where children interact with one another. The training takes between 12 to 16 hours and can be divided in several sessions depending on your organization’s schedules and needs.

Peer Mediators are young people who go through a peer mediation training to learn how to help their peers deal with conflict without violence. The peer mediation training includes essential skills such as recognition of conflict styles, communication skills, listening skills, paraphrasing, brainstorming, confidentiality and impartiality, among others. Peer mediators learn skills they can utilize in their personal, educational and professional lives!

Peer Mediation skills are based on the concept of Conflict Resolution, where searching for a win-win solution to a conflict is at the heart of the process. The basis for this process is listening to each person’s needs and arriving at a solution that meets everyone’s needs. This process also allows for everyone to be heard and feel validated. There are 4 Stages to Peer Mediation:

Peer Mediation is a great way to teach our youth they have the power to choose peaceful ways to resolve conflict. Please contact us for further information on how to establish a peer mediation program within your organization!
