One of the barriers for stabilizing families is unresolved conflict. Poor conflict resolution skills can hinder a parent from holding a job or making peace with a co-parent. And sadly, conflict between two parents who live apart often keeps non-custodial parents from being actively involved in the lives of their children.
For Individuals
In situations where one person is unwilling or unable to attend a mediation, the conflict still exists. Conflict Coaching helps individuals learn more about the roots of conflict, develop effective communication skills, and make a specific plan of action for reducing or elimination conflict in one problem area. You can meet with a trained conflict coach, sessions typically last 1 to 2 hours. Contact the Mediation Coordinator at info@conflictcrushers.org to schedule a free phone consultation.
For Organizations
In our "Keep it Together" program, we are currently partnering with local organizations that provide shelter and support to families in need. Current partnering agencies include: The Dwelling Place, ForKids, Barrett Transitional Home, Second Chances, Chesapeake Resource Network, and Judeo-Christian Outreach Center. The program consists of a series of customized parenting and conflict resolution workshops for parents served by each of the partnering organizations. E ach workshop participant will be paired with a Conflict Coach, who will work to help them develop a work plan or provide access to mediation, so both parents can be active in their children’s lives.
Community Mediation Center is actively seeking community partners. Would you like to bring Conflict Coaching to your group? Contact the Community Partners Coordinator at info@conflictcrushers.org.
