A Guide for Mediators in Training

Check out CMC's newest video project for mediators in training! As a mentee, it's hard to remember all of the requirements, and can sometimes be overwhelming to organize the paperwork. Youth and Suspension

In the April 11th Daily Press, one local school district questions its discipline limitations and is searching for alternatives. Read the full article. When suspension doesn't solve the problem, try Peace Corner and Peer Mediation programs. Working with youth to help them resolve their dispute peacefully and effectively not only relieves the immediate conflict, it also helps build character and create a stable school environment. AmeriCorps Volunteers recognized in local newspaper

Since 2002 the Community Mediation Center has partnered with the Corporation for National and Community Service to host AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers to help fight the war on poverty in the Hampton Roads region. Recently, a Virginian-Pilot jounalist, Terri Flagg, highlighted the work of our 4 VISTA volunteers, and the difference they're making in the community. Read the full article.

Introducing the Center Bookstore

The Center is beginning a new initiative called the Bookstore, which will allow people to buy books, CD's, videos, and other items through the Center's website. These items will be mainly be texts that relate to the subjects of mediation, conflict resolution, youth, and divorce, but products relating to other topics will be offered as well. Partnered with the bookstore, the Center will also try to start a book club for anyone interested. Visit the bookstore today by clicking here. Help out the Center's blog

The Center wants to increase the numbers and types of perspectives represented on the CMC Blog. We invite anyone who is interested in having their ideas or opinions posted on the blog to be read by individuals around the world to submit something. The legnth of the submissions can be anywhere between one paragraph to one page and individuals are encouraged to be creative in terms of content. E-mail us with your submission today!
